MATCH REPORTS

Quins RSL vs. Old Puget Sound Beach

Conditions in Dallas were reportedly not great. Indeed they were described as “ridiculous” by one observer. But the game went ahead and Old Puget Sound Beach gained an important win on the road to continue their impressive start to the season.

Flying wingers Filimoni Botitu and Isimeli Daveta each had a try to complement a try for flanker Nu’uese Punimata. Bobby Fitzpatrick converted a couple of these and added a penalty for a nineteen point total for the visitors in the first half.

Dallas Harlequins matched all of these points, with # 8 Gonzalo Ruiz crossing the try line twice in addition to Frank Muchugia’s try. There wasn’t as much scoring in the second half, but another penalty by OPSB’s Bobby Fitzpatrick sealed the deal for the visitors.

Final Score Quins 19 OPSB 22
Quins DII vs. HARC

The Quins DII side struggling to field players, travelled to a blustery wet Houston to face the HARC II side. Conditions were not ideal and the number of scrums throughout the match reflected that.

The Quins pack dominated the set pieces, turning 75% of HARC scrums into Quins possession but not into points as 2nd and 3rd phase play faltered. The teams swapped scores through the first half with the Quins trailing 14-12 at the break.

Both teams struggled to pressure the opponents goal line until mid way through the half when the Quins pressure paid off scoring a try to take the lead. Harc scored their 3rd try on the 70 minute mark to take the lead back again and a final penalty ended the game with another disappointing Quins Loss. Poor numbers and player availability have dogged the DII side through the latter part of the season resulting in the slide down the DII table.

Final Score Quins II 17 HARC 22
